Science Research Programme Congress

The NUS Student Research Attachment Programme (SRP) is jointly organised by NUS and MOE. It aims to provide pre-university students an opportunity to immerse in a research project and to gain insights into a specific area of science beyond their school curriculum.  In 2016, eight students from ACJC who participated in the programme have successfully completed their research attachments in December. In addition, 3 students have been shortlisted to present in the final judging of the Singapore Science Engineering Fair 2017.

On 29th April, 2017, an SRP congress was held in NUS U Town. Students taking part in this congress were given an opportunity to present their projects to teachers and peers. We are pleased to announce that our students clinched the 2nd and 3rd Best Posters at the Congress.

“My research experience was an enlightening one. Throughout the entire research process, I had the opportunity to interact with various scientists from the Department of Paediatrics at the National University of Singapore. On top of that, I had the first-hand experience in conducting Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) that is included in the H2 Biology syllabus and learned more about statistics, which was completely new to me. Moreover, participating in the 17th Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) was also rewarding as I got to share my project with scientists from different backgrounds and gain insights on the projects conducted by other students. Presenting my project to others allowed me to hone my communication skills too. In short, science research has been a wonderful experience!”
