Methodist Walk 2017

On Saturday, 25th March, ACJC played host to The Methodist Walk, a biennial event that saw students from 14 different Methodist schools across the island as well as the members of several Methodist Churches, participate in a walk around the Dover neighbourhood in an effort to raise funds for their respective schools. These funds were collected through pledge cards that students received earlier in January, with proceeds raised from the Walk channelled towards facility-improvement projects in the various Methodist schools.

The event kicked off at 7:20am, as participants gathered in the school field for a short introduction to the Methodist Walk. Mr. Ng Chee Meng, the Minister for Education, graced the occasion as the guest of honor. The guests at the event shared several words with the participants, after which they were led by members of the Methodist Church in a brief worship service where participants enjoyed each other’s fellowship under the morning sun. Once the worship session was over, all participants engaged in a quick warm-up session in preparation for the walk.

When everybody was ready, excitement filled the air as Mr. Ng flagged off the participants for the walk. Primary school students and church members started first with a 2km walk around Dover Crescent and Dover Rise, with Secondary school students following close behind for their longer 4km walk. Participants were treated to the cool morning breeze, and blue skies as they made their way around the neighbourhood.

The event came to a close as participants filled back into the school after their walk, while volunteers handed out refreshment packages which included popsicles, and boxes of pastry. The Methodist Walk truly proved to be a memorable event for everyone involved.

To God be the Glory, The Best is Yet to Be.
