ACJC Retains Waterpolo National Championship Title

After 5 months of intensive training, the water polo team began the A Division Inter-School Water Polo competition on 11th March 2014. We started the preliminaries well, defeating Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) 17-2, followed by a 17-4 win against St. Andrew’s Junior College. Subsequently, we emerged victorious against Raffles Institution with a score of 9-5. Our last match in the preliminaries against Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) proved to be the toughest. After a long and gruelling battle, we eventually lost with a score of 8-11.

We met HCI again in the Finals on 3rd April 2014. Despite leading on multiple occasions, our opponents always managed to keep the score line close, holding the goal difference at merely 1 or 2 goals. Thankfully, our teamwork and composure allowed us to hold our ground and eventually, we edged out our opponents with a score of 8-7, defending our championship title.

The water polo team would like to express our gratitude to our Principal Ms. Beatrice Chong, our Vice-Principals, our teachers-in-charge, Mr. Lim Chee Hong and Mr. Chang Kok Keong, our coaches, Mr. Paul Tan and Mr. Kuah Kah Huat, and everyone who came to support us.

Lastly, we would like to thank God for giving us the strength to overcome all the obstacles we faced over the course of this journey. To God be the glory, the best is yet to be.
