ACJC at the 55th National Schools Swimming Championship

In the recent 55th National Schools Swimming Championships that commenced on 14th April 2014 and concluded on 23rd April 2014, the swimmers emerged victorious and did Anglo-Chinese Junior College proud by defending their 2013 titles – overall second position for the girls and third position for the boys.

Some highlights of the competition included the outstanding performances by the following swimmers:
  • Marina Chan broke the meet record for the 50m Freestyle event and obtained a second gold medal for the 100m Freestyle event,
  • Natasha Tan bagged two gold medals for the 50m and 100m Butterfly events and
  • Daryl Ho, Brendan Teo, Rachel Lum and our vice-captains Gerald Chua and Christabel Chai emerged as medallists for their respective events.
The girls relay team, comprising Christabel Chai, Rachel Lum, Natasha Tan, Marina Chan and Hillary Yu, did exceedingly well as they were placed second for both the 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley events.
Daryl Ho, Gerald Chua, Brendan Teo, Maguire Lim and Max Ang, members of the boys relay team, also put up a tough fight as they achieved third and fourth placing in the 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley events respectively.

The months of preparation leading up to the National Schools Swimming Championships proved to be both physically and mentally demanding as we had to devote time and energy to daily training sessions, school work and other commitments. It was truly by God’s grace and the constant encouragement of our teammates, coaches and teachers that we were able to complete the season on a victorious note. We rejoice that the obstacles we overcame together have developed in us a spirit of tenacity and passion.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our principal, vice-principals, coaches, teachers, parents and supporters for their blessings and continued support. Most importantly, we would like to thank God for giving us strength and for bringing us through the swimming season.
To God be the glory, the best is yet to be!
