ACJC Entrée Council in Singapore Human Resource Challenge 2013

On the 9th March 2013, Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) participated in the finals of the Singapore Human Resources Challenge organised by the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI). The team, comprising Team Captain Alethea Chan from 2SA8, Faustine Yap and Francesca Mak from 2AA4, Ng Yu Xuan from 2SD1 and Cheoh Jie Rou from 2SB6 from Entrée Council, battled hard and managed to attain second place in the competition.
In the first round, the team interviewed an organisation which they used as a case study. The team met up daily to research and draft a 5,000 word report regarding Singapore’s shrinking workforce and better work life balance. After days of hard work, the team qualified for the semi-finals.
For the semi-finals, the team presented their ideas via role-play and a self-written song sung to the tune of Ingrid Michaelson’s You And I, played on the ukulele by one of the team members, Faustine Yap. Due to the unique mode of presentation and comprehensive solutions provided, the team entered the grand finals. During the finals, the team presented a reviewed set of suggestions and clinched second place, with Singapore Polytechnic emerging as champions. Cheoh Jie Rou was awarded the ‘Best Speaker.’

Although we did not achieve first place, it was definitely a memorable experience for us as we learned to co-operate with one another to meet deadlines despite time constraints.
We would like to thank the school for such a great opportunity, our teachers-in-charge, Mrs Jane Wong, Mrs Goh Shiting and Mr Bryan Tan for their unwavering support and guidance during our journey throughout the competition, as well as our friends and family who have constantly encouraged us.
To God be the glory, the best is yet to be !
