On the 18th of November 2016, ACSian Theatre embarked on a values-in-action project, Share-A-Meal, hosted by the Hard Rock Café. Share-A-Meal was launched by the Compassion Fund Ltd that aims to raise funds to provide for the meals of the less fortunate students in schools such as Victoria School, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and more.
ACSian Theatre kick-started the workshop with an upbeat dance rendition of ‘Stand in the Light’ by Michael Webb before the students were briefed about what Share-A-Meal is all about. The students were then split into randomized groupings for a time of icebreakers led by our facilitators, who then took them for a time of brainstorming for fundraising strategies, before we all broke for a lunch graciously provided by Hard Rock Café.
After a time of great fellowship, the students went back to their original groups where they chose their favourite project and continued their discussions before presenting their ideas to the other groups and facilitators. The day ended with a time of reflection on how to further improve their plans for the future.
We would like to thank Hard Rock Café for their hospitality, the organisers and our teachers for giving us this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. We hope the students had a fulfilling experience and will keep up this spirit of giving.
