Theastai, an ACJC Drama Elective Programme Showcase
The Anglo-Chinese Junior College’s J1 Drama Elective Programme (DEP) students had their first examination showcase, Theasthai. This batch of students performed a variety of monologues in their inaugural showcase with fervour. There was an entertaining mix of both comedy and tragedy throughout the show as the newest DEP members hit the stage with their interpretations of a myriad of monologues.
Theasthai was the first public showcase by the J1 DEP students. The students worked hard during rehearsals in order to put up a strong and truthful performance for their audience. Through this experience, the students learned vital work ethics and key processes that is required to translate text from page to stage with veracity.
Theasthai was a meaningful and thought-provoking experience for both the audience and students. The enthusiastic DEP students brought to the stage their superb energy and intense emotions. Their passion for the art was clear in their deliveries as the nuanced and well-developed characters truly revealed the amount of time they have spent working on their monologues. It was a truly inspiring sight.
If you were not able to catch our J1s in action during Theasthai, you can watch them in their first ever Group Skill showcase, Inventio, on the 5th of September at 7.30pm at ACJC’s Faith Centre for the Performing Arts.
