ACSian Theatre presents Lady Windermere's Fan
On the 7th, 8th, and 9th of April 2016, Anglo-Chinese Junior College award-winning Drama Co-Curricular Activity (CCA), ACSian Theatre, brought Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan to life at the Faith Centre of Performing Arts.
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars”
Lady Windermere’s Fan is a stunning and thought-provoking tale that reflects the comedy and tragedy of upper-class Victorian society. The performance used the combination of text, song and dance to illustrate the themes of love, betrayal and jealousy that is still prevalent in today’s society. Throngs of friends and family poured into ACJC Faith Centre for Performing Arts over three nights, and were left mesmerised by the end, as they laughed, gasped and cried alongside the characters on stage.
“In this world, there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.”
The entire experience was one that the ensemble cherish dearly. The students grew through the production and rehearsal process as an enthusiastic team of actors, crew and costumers. It served as a great opportunity for the year-two students to impart their knowledge to the new year-ones, whom we are so proud to welcome into our family.
Lady Windermere’s Fan would not have been such a success without the unending dedication and support of our teachers and alumni who patiently guided us through and who moulded us into better performers. We are also so grateful to the dedicated crew and costuming team, without whom we would not have been able to put up such a wonderful show. Last but not least, the show could not have been done without our audience, who graced us with their presence, smiles and encouragement.
