The ACJC Canoeing Team

From 6-9 April 2015, the ACJC Canoeing Team competed in the National Inter-School Canoeing Championships, held at Macritchie Reservoir. Both the boys team and the girls team faced tough competition throughout the competition but persevered through their heats and finals. After four intense days of competition, our girls team bagged 10 bronze medals in total and clinched the overall 3rd place. Competition proved to be even stiffer for the boys team but they returned with a commendable overall 5th place .

Most boats in our boys team got through their heats and qualified for the finals. Notably, boys' captain Edwin Lim of 2AD4 put up strong performances for his races, coming in 4th and 5th in the K1-500m and K1-1000m finals respectively. The boys' K4, K2, K1s and C1 boats also managed to race their way into the finals, securing valuable championship points for the team.

Excitement was high as our K2 girls, Chee Weiqian of 2SD3 and Marjorie Wang of 2AH, clinched a bronze medal in their Kphoto3.jpeg2-500m finals.

The canoeing journey has been an arduous one filled with blood shed, tears wept and sweat dripped, but for what canoeing has taken from the team, it has given us so much more in return. Joining the canoeing team was not just about joining a CCA in ACJC, it was like joining a family. The team would like to extend our sincere thanks to our coach, teachers and supporters for their unending care and encouragement throughout this unforgettable journey.
