National Inter-School Tennis Finals
On Wednesday, 13th May, the girls and boys both played for first place in the National Inter-School Tennis Championship, making it the first all AC finals in 11 years.
United in passion and determination!
The boys came a long way from beating tough opponents including RJ in the semi-finals, overcoming the Raffles boys and making it to the finals for the first time in 9 years to meet ACSI for the final play-off. Though the match ended with an exceptionally close score of 2-3, ACJC clinched the Silver trophy.
The girls met equally strong teams in the semis and the finals. They met Hwa Chong in the semi finals, to win with a score of 3-2 and move on to the final round. However, they conceded with a score of 1-4 to RIJC after a gruelling, thus winning the Silver medal, giving the tennis team an overall double Silver!
It was a grueling season, playing in and out of training, and of course competing in interschools. However, the team was privileged to have enjoyed a season filled with countless inside jokes, bus rides and team time together, the pleasures shared through training, and hard work, sacrifice and fantastic camaraderie. To quote the tennis coach, Kel, "one match doesn't make up your season, it's the bonds formed and each of the matches which we fought for that does."
The team would like to thank Mrs Roberta Tan and Miss Sherrie Tan for always attending to them no matter how busy they are, our coaches for never ever giving up on us and sacrificing endless amounts of time to see that we improved, our supporters who came down to cheer, and of course our Father in Heaven for blessing us with strength, courage and the talent to play this sport with passion and determination.
To God be the Glory, The Best is Yet to Be!
