Inspiring Teacher of English Award 2013 (College Section)

The College is proud to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr Patrick Sum, an award winner of the Inspiring Teacher of English Award 2013 in the College Section.


‘To Live with Passion and Compassion’ – Mr Sum lives by this and his win is indicative of how he has made a positive impact on his students.

He has developed in his General Paper (GP) students, an appreciation for the English Language. His usage of relevant and engaging visual and print media aids students in the formation of opinions regarding life’s issues. He teaches with indisputable fervour and zest, challenging students to consider differing viewpoints and expanding their horizons. His lessons provide a meeting-ground for people who have embarked on a shared journey to learn more about the world, themselves and each other.
 
This annual award is jointly presented to deserving educators by the Speak Good English Movement, the National Heritage Board and The Straits Times, and supported by the Ministry of Education.
 
Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Education and Law, presented the prestigious award to Mr Patrick Sum at the National Museum of Singapore on Tuesday, 8 October 2013.
