The annual World Schools Debating Championships features national debating teams from all around the world. This year, the Championships were held in Antalya, Turkey. In an electrifying series of debates, Team Singapore beat nations such as Scotland, the United States and England before exiting the tournament by a razor-thin 4-3 loss to Swaziland in the Semi-finals. The team returned to Singapore ranked third in the world.

Among Singapore's representatives at this tournament were three ACSians. Geetha Creffield (Head of Arts, ACJC) is the coach of the national debate team who guided and led the team, while Kok Rabin (2 AH) was a member of the team. In addition, Dr. Vernie Oliveiro (ACJC Class of 1997) represented Singapore as a judge. The tournament contributed greatly to an understanding of rhetoric and how it is often shaped differently by many cultural perspectives.

The ACSians at the event are glad for the chance to use their skills to represent Singapore as an eloquent and well-respected debating team internationally. In addition, they are proud to walk in the footsteps of generations of ACJC debaters, many of whom have represented both the College and the nation internationally. To God be the Glory, the Best is Yet to Be!
